Patricians and Plebeians (April 30)
Roman patricians owned the most land and had the most wealth, because of this, they had the most political power and most rights. Plebeians, who were farmers, artisans, and merchants, typically weren't landowners, and didn't have enough money to gain political power. Because of this, plebeians had fewer rights and little control over their government, despite making up the majority the population.
Roman patricians were similar to Greek aristocrats in the sense that they were wealthy landowners whose status and money gave them political power.
